The short-trip problem
Batteries that never reach full charge
A modern Range Rover does not simply charge whenever the engine runs. Smart charging deliberately backs off to save fuel and tops the battery up only when the system decides it is worth doing. On a 40-minute highway run that works perfectly. On a 10-minute crawl through Downtown traffic the alternator barely replaces what starting consumed, and the deficit accumulates. The battery lives permanently at 70 to 80 percent, which is exactly the condition that kills it fastest.
Parasitic drain in underground parking
Basements block GPS and weaken mobile signal, so telematics modules that would normally go to sleep keep waking to search for a connection. It is a small current, but over five days it is the difference between a car that starts and one that does not. We measure drain after the car has fully gone to sleep, which takes patience most workshops will not allocate.
Diesel particulate filters that cannot regenerate
Run a diesel on short city trips and the filter loads with soot but never gets hot enough for long enough to burn it off. The car attempts a regeneration, gets interrupted when you park after eight minutes, and tries again. Eventually you get a warning light, reduced performance, and in the worst case a filter that has to come off and be cleaned.
What we do differently
We read soot loading and force a regeneration under controlled conditions so you know exactly where you stand, rather than waiting for the car to put itself into limp mode on Sheikh Zayed Road. If your usage genuinely does not suit a diesel, we will say so — that is worth knowing too.
If this is your second or third battery in four years, the battery is not the fault. Ask for a parasitic drain test before you buy another one.
Basement collection in Downtown
We collect from residential basements across Downtown — Burj Khalifa residences, Boulevard, Old Town and the Opera District — and from DIFC-side office parking if that is where the car sits during the day.
- Ride height: if your car is on an off-road setting or has a lift, tell us when booking and we will lower it before the ramp.
- Access: most buildings need the driver's name and plate logged with security in advance. Give us that at booking and collection takes ten minutes instead of an hour.

Possibly — but if it is the second or third battery, it almost certainly is not. Ask for a parasitic drain test before replacing anything.
Do I need to take the car on the motorway every week?
On a diesel, a 20 to 30 minute continuous drive roughly weekly makes a real difference to both the filter and the battery. On a petrol it is mainly about the battery, and a maintenance charger does the same job without leaving your bay.
Can you collect from my office rather than home?
Yes. Downtown and DIFC office parking are both routine for us; we just need the building's access process in advance.
Will you tell me if a repair is not worth doing?
Yes. We are independent, so there is no incentive to sell you a part you do not need. If the honest answer is that you should drive the car differently, that is the answer you will get.
